How about these Cyclones? After the football season didn’t end the way we hoped, Iowa State basketball has been a pleasant surprise led by transfers Izaiah Brockington and Gabe Kalscheur. When these two teams last matched up, like my friend Kevin on two-dollar Tuesdays, Iowa State was hitting on a lot of threes. On the other hand, Texas comes into this game after a defeating loss at Tech where Chris Beard was chirped harder than a guy flying a Biden flag at a NASCAR tailgate. Texas doesn’t necessarily have a standout leader. They have about six or seven guys that can take over at any time, but that isn’t always good. I think Iowa State wins this game because they have the only star (in Izaiah Brockington) on the court. With both teams having strong defensive units, this game could come down to hitting shots down the stretch, and we know that Brockington can get the job done.
