As a Rutgers student who has been a die-hard fan of our basketball program over the last three seasons, I hate typing this. I knew Iowa would stomp Northwestern, but I wanted them to lose so bad in my heart. I’m not going to beat around the bush: I picked Iowa to win the Big 10 tournament, and for that to happen, they will beat us. Make no mistake; this game will be closer than Northwestern (that was so gory it shouldn’t have been shown on TV). If Keegan Murray can get going against Big 10 defensive player of the year Caleb McConnell, the Hawkeyes will edge out the Scarlet Knights. I love our Rutgers team. We have veteran leadership, a great floor general in Paul Mulcahy, and I trust nobody in the world more with the ball in their hand and five seconds on the clock than Ron Harper, but with that being said, March is about stars, and I haven’t seen a star like Keegan Murray in years. Iowa is complete on both sides of the ball (as they showed against those nerds at Northwestern), Jordan Bohannon is a tremendous right fiddle, and they have been playing excellent team basketball down the stretch. Take the Hawkeyes.
