Novak Djokovic is the 3-time defending champion and hasn’t lost on these hollowed grass courts since 2017. I hate saying this since I am a massive Federer fan….but he is going to cakewalk his way to the title barring any injury or COVID outbreak. Two of his biggest threats in the draw, Marin Cilic & Mateo Berrettini, have already had to withdraw due to COVID. After a difficult year where he got deported from Australia and lost to Nadal at the French, the stars are aligning for him at Wimbledon.
I would probably get fired if I didn’t include Rafael Nadal in my Wimbledon preview, but the reality is that Nadal hasn’t won Wimbledon in TWELVE years and hasn’t contended for the title since 2011. He may have won the first 2 slams of the year…but his quest for the Rafa Calendar Slam ends here. Truly the biggest threat to Djokovic winning the title this year is COVID.
