Oh, what a great game to continue the March madness opening rounds. Michigan State and USC are about to be a titanic first-round matchup. Normally the seven and ten-seed games are not that enjoyable to watch, but I love this one. These are two teams that both lost in big-time conference tournaments and will be looking to rectify that mistake in the end of season Tourney. Look for a fast-paced, high-action game that Michigan State comes out on top of.
The Trojans are a very solid basketball team. They went 22 and 10 on the season with two wins against teams in the top 25. (They also had four losses to that same group but hey who’s counting). USC also had a pretty tough bid when they lost to Arizona State in the Pac-12 tournament. A team that is currently playing a game in the hopes of making the tournament as an eleventh seed. This USC team didn’t have two big-time wins for no reason though. They have two gross guards by the names of Boogie Ellis and Drew Peterson. Together these guys lead the team in points, rebounds, and assists. Not to mention that they’re both snagging a steal per game. Those are some solid stats for a team whose nickname is shared by a condom brand.
The Michigan State Spartans have been a force to be reckoned with this season. Against teams in the top 25, they have gone .500, and have looked real good doing it. As a team, the Spartans are tied for the third-best 3-point shooting percentage. They’ve gotten themselves wins against Indiana and Kentucky and only lost by one to the likes of Gonzaga. So these Spartans are battle ready. This Michigan State team loves shooting the ball around the perimeter and knocking down threes like it’s nobody’s business, which works incredibly well against teams with big bodies down low. Whether it’s Joey Hauser, Tyson Walker, or A.J. Hoggard these guys just don’t miss.
This game will be a battle of the guards, and if you’re telling me one of these teams is 3rd in the nation in 3-point shooting while the other is tied for 164th it gives me a good idea of who might win. Michigan State is much more of a team, and that translates a whole lot better to the tournament. Bet on Michigan State’s moneyline and get your extra $200 in bonus bets.
