No exaggeration- this has the potential to be the greatest Super Bowl of all time. From the Kelce brothers making NFL history by being the first pair of siblings to meet in a Super Bowl to Andy Reid looking for vengeance against the team that fired him ten years ago, and both of these teams averaging an outstanding 28.7 points per game, we are in for a treat come February 12. From top to bottom, the Eagles have played great all year. Philadelphia won 16 of 17 games started by Jalen Hurts, only five of those decided by seven points or fewer. Howie Roseman took a team that looked incompetent just a few years ago and plugged in each missing piece perfectly. For a defense that finished 31st in sack rate in 2021, he signed Haason Reddick. The Eagles then set a franchise sack record. To help an offense that needed explosiveness, he traded for A.J. Brown, who went on to set the franchise record for receiving yards. To repair a broken secondary, he signed James Bradberry and traded for CJ Gardner-Johnson. The Eagles then went on to hold teams to 171.0 passing yards a game (#1 in the NFL). Philadelphia has had no problem in the playoffs so far, winning their games against the Giants and 49ers by a combined score of 69-14, but how do they match up against the Chiefs? Well, offensively, the Eagles should be just fine. Kansas City is a better team against the run than they are against the pass; however, this Eagles team is one of the best running teams in football history, and they do it behind an elite offensive line. In the NFC Championship, the Eagles scored four rushing touchdowns against the 49ers, which gives them 39 for the season. Not only is that an NFL record, but it breaks a mark that had stood since 1924 when the Frankford Yellow Jackets ran for 38. Philadelphia might not run over Kansas City as effectively as they did against the Giants, but they will get their yards on the ground. While Jalen Hurts missed a few throws here and there against the 49ers, his shoulder looks fine, and it will only get better with an extra week’s worth of rest. Kansas City has never been considered one of the team’s in football with an exceptionally talented secondary, and while Chris Jones (two sacks last weekend) and Frank Clark (1.5 sacks last weekend) can put pressure on a quarterback, it’s not going to be easy to sack a mobile quarterback behind a great offensive line. The Chiefs allow a poor 221.0 yards per game through the air, and if Jalen Hurts can establish play-action early, the Eagles can jump ahead to an early lead.

But here’s the problem, that’s not going to happen. These were the highest-scoring teams in football this year. For just the seventh time in NFL history, the Super Bowl is giving us the highest-scoring team in the AFC against the highest-scoring team in the NFC. The last time that happened came in Super Bowl LI when the Patriots beat the Falcons…remember how insane that game was? We are in for a shootout here, and while Philadelphia has a clear advantage on defense, no team even comes close to replicating what the Chiefs can do on offense. With Andy Reid playing the team that fired him after his son tragically passed away years ago, it’s no secret that an offensive mastermind like Reid will be dangerous with something to prove. There was a lot of concern going into the AFC Championship for Patrick Mahomes on a high-ankle sprain, and if his 326-yard, two-touchdown performance against the Bengals was indicative of anything, it’s that you could have the guy playing on a wooden leg and he would still be the greatest quarterback in the NFL. Mahomes is the favorite to win his second MVP, which makes sense because he sets NFL records in his sleep. Mahomes finished the season with 5,614 yards — 5,250 yards passing, 358 yards rushing, and 6 yards receiving — the most in football history. Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes connected in the AFC Championship for their 13th career postseason touchdown. Now, they only trail Brady and Gronk for the most touchdowns between a quarterback and tight end in postseason history. The Eagles have a hell of a defense, but they’re weak against the run, and when Kansas City can get Isiah Pacheco involved in their offense, they’re unstoppable. The Chiefs went into this season being disrespected, and they are here once again. The playoffs are about big-time players making big-time plays, and nobody does that quite like Patrick Mahomes. Vegas likes the Eagles -1.5, but the Chiefs will win a tight game by a field goal. Want to put some money in your pocket for a long weekend? Take the Chiefs and get your $200 in bonus bets back if you pick the winner!
