For the third time in six weeks, we get to see these two AFC titans square off as their fans freeze their nuts off in the stands. The Patriots took the first one in what I’d consider to be one of Bill Belichick’s most impressive wins as a head coach, and the Bills won their most recent encounter behind an electric performance by Josh Allen. In tribute to Plaxico Burress, the Patriots have spent the last month shooting themselves in the foot with slow starts, mental mistakes in their secondary, and sloppy turnovers.
On the other hand, the Bills have been taking care of business as they finished the season with a schedule that’s worse than my pullout game after four margaritas. Because these two teams are as familiar with each other as the guests at an Alabama wedding, we know what this game will come down to: if the Bills want to win, they need to contain the run, and if the Patriots want to win, they need to get pressure on Josh Allen. Vegas likes the Bills by four, and I agree. As impressive as Mac Jones has been this rookie season, winning on the road in the wild card game is a tall task, especially when you’re playing in ten-degree weather. Josh Allen has been here before, and he’ll do anything it takes to win in front of thousands of drunk Buffalonians (I’m 99% positive I just made that up). While I never doubt Belichick’s ability to gameplan, I have faith that Allen, behind a finally healthy Bills’ offensive line, will lead Buffalo to a deep playoff run.
