There used to be a time when a Tottenham versus Chelsea match would excite me. These are two of the big six clubs in the Premier League, so you’d think it would be a clash of the Titans type deal. But unfortunately, Chelsea just has not had it this season. I would say the smart pick in this game is Tottenham, but hopefully, Chelsea at least makes it interesting.
Chelsea is currently sitting tenth at the table without any serious hope or chance of rising. They have lacked any real passion or purpose for the last five matches they’ve played, and it looks like Graham Potter may have already lost the dressing room. Now I will say because of the horrible form this team has been in, there is a chance that Graham tries to force a sense of urgency into the side. He will be on the hot seat for the foreseeable future, and I’m sure he’d like to get off of it. And even with the lack of identity the Blues possess, they do still have some elite-level young talent that can hopefully develop the more they play together. I mean, Joao Felix looks like a magician with the ball at his feet, and Enzo Fernandez has some ridiculous ball placement on his passing.
However, Tottenham has been the better side this season. They are fourth in the table, and Antonio Conte has the boys balling. Harry Kane, Tottenham’s star striker, just recently broke Tottenham’s all-time scoring record, and in my opinion, he’s not even the most electrifying attacker the team has. But if Haaland wasn’t more machine than a man, I’m sure Kane would be running away with the Golden Boot at this point. Tottenham also has an elite back three, and as long as Hojbjerg is able to stay in that midfield, this team will always be dangerous.
I’m hopeful that this is a good game, but the way these two teams’ trajectories have been leading me to think that there’s a good chance this game gets out of hand quickly. Tottenham is the much better team this season, so bet on Tottenham’s moneyline and get your extra $200 if you pick the winner.
