This weekend the Arizona Wildcats will be travelling over to California to visit the San Diego State Aztecs in both team’s first game of 2022. Arizona will be looking for revenge in the Aztecs’ new home, Snapdragon Stadium, after getting thoroughly routed 14-38 in 2021. Here’s what you need to know.

The Aztecs are missing a lot of key pieces from their previous campaign, but head coach Brady Hoke feels the team has already reloaded without needing time to rebuild. A big loss was running back Greg Bell who performed well against Arizona in the past, a hole that will have to be filled by the Aztecs’ other backs. San Diego State’s defense will be a force to be reckoned with. 12-2 last year with an improved defense but new look offense could struggle.

I have a feeling this game is going to be pretty back and forth and evenly matched for the most part. Arizona upgraded through the transfer portal, bringing in QB Jayden de Laura from Washington State and WR Jacob Cowing. They are a well coached squad with a chip on their shoulder after a disappointing season last year. I think their new offense will be able to keep pace with a pretty average SDSU offense, and at least cover if not win. The Aztecs will be tough to score against, but if the Wildcats can put some points on the board early I think it will go well for them. Look for the Wildcats to put up a fight against the Aztecs’. Take the points and take your free $200 from DraftKings!
