Nature is healing everybody. This Arsenal against Manchester United game will be the first time these two teams are meeting as two of the top four teams in the Premier League in what feels like forever. Either of these teams can win this game, with Manchester United being red hot and Arsenal being eight points clear at the top of the table. I believe the current top of the Premier League team will prevail, though, maintaining their league-winning spot.
Manchester United has been on an absolute tear since the World Cup break. They’ve won seven, with a draw against Palace being their first dropped points since the World Cup break, and honestly seem to have no signs of slowing down. They even beat Manchester City 2-1, which is a feat few teams can claim this season. Marcus Rashford has seemingly refound his form for this team. He’s scored all eight of his goals this season after the World Cup break, averaging close to a goal a game, which is pretty scary for the rest of the League. Bruno Fernandes has also been having an unsurprisingly solid season distributing the ball with purpose. Who knew that dropping a way too-expensive aging superstar that only stirred up drama would make the team better?
Arsenal is just that hair better, though. Of the 18 games they have played so far this season, they have only not won three of them. And of those three “not wins,” they’ve only lost one. One singular game. That is absolutely insane. I mean, when Gabriel Jesus got injured during the World Cup, I would assume Arsenal might drop a few games. I mean, he was their top goal-scorer by a good margin. But, uh, since that injury, their schedule has been a win, win, draw, win, win. So that’s pretty good, I guess. Everywhere you look right now, this team has talent. Martin Odegaard is making a statement this season that he is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. Saka and Martinelli on the wings have been great both at assisting and scoring. And Arsenal’s defense has been lights out this season with nine clean sheets, putting them second in the league for that stat.
