It’s week seven of NFL football, and the New York Jets are traveling to Denver to face off against the Broncos. In a situation no one would have seen coming before the season began, the Jets are sitting at a 4-2 record while the Broncos are struggling through their season at 2-4 after their second straight overtime loss in a row on Monday night to the Chargers in another brutally painful primetime game. Out of New York, the Jets have won three straight and are chasing their fourth in a row and their second straight win on the road. Zach Wilson has looked solid since coming back from injury, and first-year running back Breece Hall is climbing the ladder in odds to win Rookie of the Year. Russell Wilson has been struggling, averaging fewer than 250 yards per game, and the loss of second-year running back Javonte Williams has hurt the running game for Denver. It’s been a tough season for the Broncos so far, and with New York making a push to put themselves in playoff territory, this is a game the Broncos need to win to get their season back on track.
The Jets are still the Jets, and Russell Wilson (despite his struggles) has shown at times that he still has the talent enough to do some damage to opposing defenses, which is probably why Vegas likes the Broncos at -1.5. The Jets are hot, though. Three wins in a row is a lot of momentum, and that momentum is harder to stop than a drunken uncle talking about Nancy Pelosi at Thanksgiving dinner. The combination of healthy Zach Wilson, Breece Hall, and stand-out rookie wide receiver Garret Wilson Jr. is simply going to be too much for the Broncos defense to handle, and if their offense as of late continues to, well, suck, there’s no way they’ll be able to put enough points on the board to beat a Jets team that has put up twenty points or more in four of their last five games. It doesn’t matter that Vegas likes the Broncos. The Jets are a force to be reckoned with against any team – let alone a team that’s been having as much trouble as Denver has.
