We’re blessed as we’ll see the number two ranked Kansas Jayhawks take on the fourteenth ranked Iowa State Cyclones this Saturday in their first matchup of the season in a BEAST of a Big 12 NCAA contest this Saturday. At 15-1, the Jayhawks have only had one poor spot on the season in their loss to Tennessee, who is fifth in the country. Aside from that, though, they’ve been a force this season and looked real scary along the way. For the Cyclones, things haven’t been much different. Their 13-2 record with losses to Iowa and UConn is only slightly worse, so Saturday is going to be a tight one.
At a little below 80 points per game this year, Kansas has also managed to outscore their opponents by an average of slightly more than 10 points each game. Shooting wise, they don’t do anything crazy from three or for two, but they rebound at some of the best levels in the NCAA and always seem to manage points when they need it.
For Iowa State sit at around 65 points per game and typically run closer games than the Jayhawks do. Despite shooting at the same percentage as Kansas, they’re not as deep of a squad, and they can’t do what they need to do defensively and on rebounds to win the game. It’s going to be a tight game, but Iowa won’t be able to do much more than that, which means it’s looking like a Kansas win on Saturday.
