Kansas, after a three game skid got a win against #18 Oklahoma State and are bowl eligible for the first time since the last financial crisis, while Texas Tech has dropped four out of their last five against a series of good teams. Here’s what you need to know about their matchup this weekend.
Texas Tech started out good this season, beating some tough opponents, but recently luck has not been on their side. That being said, they’re four point home favorites, and through the ups and downs, the Red Raiders’ offense has looked pretty scary. 462 yards of total offense a game is nothing to turn your nose up at, and the Jayhawks pass defense has been shaky at times. I think SaRodorick Thompson will be a key player for Texas Tech as they look to exploit a Jayhawks run defense that has struggled all year, letting up over 150 yards a game.
Now Kansas is in a tough spot. Their record is good, but they celebrated being bowl eligible like they just won the Super Bowl. Letdown game time? Not so fast… Everyone is too quick to write Kansas off just because they’re good at basketball. While their passing attack has been pretty good, their run game is very good, and their defense is middle of the pack. 37.9 points a game is an electric offense and I think Devin Neal who has been red hot recently can take advantage of a struggling Red Raider defense. Coming off of a win against a top 20 team and with a moneyline hovering around +160 I think the value is on the road dogs here.
