Last weekend, LSU emasculated Southern University’s football team so badly that I wouldn’t be surprised if Jordan Peterson showed up on campus today. It was everything Tigers fans had dreamed of going into this season. Jayden Daniels looked like Lamar Jackson in his limited playing time, Brian Kelly called a creative offensive game, and the secondary did their job against an FCS team that’s less nationally known than Bishop Sycamore- a fake school. Now, LSU takes on their first SEC test against a Mississippi State team that’s more impressive through the air than almost any character from Top Gun. Through two games, Bulldogs’ quarterback, Will Rogers, has thrown for 763 yards and nine scores on 77 of 98 completions. The offense is enough to make any secondary sweat, but this is an opportunity for the LSU secondary to prove they are in the upper echelon in the SEC.

Nothing builds confidence like manhandling an FCS team, and Brian Kelly seems to be learning where his pieces fit. This is not a rebuilding year for LSU; it takes a little bit of time for a first-year coach and quarterback to click. Mississippi State’s defense made some good plays against Arizona, but they still allowed a school more known for pool parties where clothing is optional than their football team to put up seventeen points on them. LSU will give Mississippi State a rude awakening. Cowards may be scared of the Tigers after the loss to FSU. You shouldn’t be. Jayden Daniels has all the talent in the world around him, and at his best, he’s a top ten quarterback in college football. Last week, we saw him throw a lot more to Kayshon Boutte, and like any rapper, Daniels will continue to look for Boutte more and more each game forward. Vegas likes Mississippi State -2, but I think LSU wins this game by a field goal. This team means too much to the great people of Louisiana to throw away their season after one disappointing loss, and Mississippi State has yet to be tested in their cakewalk schedule through the first two games. Take LSU to win, cover, and take your free $200 from DraftKings!
