The name LSU Fighting Tigers has never been more appropriate than it has for this season. This season was supposed to be a rebuild, and now the Tigers find themselves competing for an SEC championship after dropping the first game of the season against FSU. Last weekend, Arkansas brought its best, but the Tigers won their fourth-straight game to continue their journey in hopes of becoming the first two-loss team to ever reach the College Football Playoff. Harold Perkins continues to climb up draft boards after another week with even more game-changing plays, all while sick with the flu…and to think our government wanted us locked inside for two years…hahahaha. With four sacks and two forced fumbles, Perkins is just the fourth FBS player ever to have that stat line and the first to do it in a Power 5 game since Chase Young with the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2019. Oh, and in case you haven’t heard it a million times yet, he’s only a freshman. While Jayden Daniels didn’t have his best game last week, expect a strong rebound against UAB. Daniels’ 629 rushing yards are a huge reason for the Tigers’ success, and UAB is terrible against the run. The Blazers allow, on average, 163.3 rushing yards per game. The combination of Daniels and Josh Williams, who rushed for 122 yards and a TD against Arkansas, is a matchup nightmare for the UAB linebackers.
UAB has had an okay year considering they lost longtime coach Bill Clark this past offseason, but they shouldn’t pose too much of a threat to LSU. The Blazers run the ball better than almost anyone in college football, but they’ve done it against schools that the average person wouldn’t even know existed if they didn’t like to bet on sports. Running back DeWayne McBride has run over opposing defenses like he’s Caitlyn Jenner behind the wheel of a Lexus after a few too many glasses of chardonnay at lunch. His 1,407 rushing yards are good for second in all of college football, and he only has 60 fewer yards on the ground than his quarterback has thrown for the entire year. LSU will win this game in the trenches. The UAB offensive line may be great at run blocking against a team like the University of Charlotte but against the likes of BJ Ojulari, Micah Baskerville, and SEC defensive player of the week Harold Perkins. No way. UAB snapped a three-game losing streak last weekend with a win over North Texas in Birmingham, but the Tigers just need to keep their wits about them and stay disciplined by not committing stupid penalties, and they will win this game without too much of a sweat. The Tigers are 5-1 ATS in their last six at home and 7-2 ATS in their last nine on grass. LSU is 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine in November, and UAB is 1-4 ATS in their last five overall. Vegas likes LSU -14.5, and they will cover that. LSU Moneyline? Next question. Bet on the Tigers moneyline and get your free $200 from DraftKings!
