Michigan came out of the gates swinging like a homeless guy off of PCP, en route to a fifty-one to seven win against Colorado State in their season opener. It’s what we expected from the Wolverines, as anything short of a Big 10 title would be a more significant disappointment than Lebron’s version of Space Jam. The Wolverines are a vending machine of defensive talent. When they lose guys like Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo to the NFL, in comes four and five-star talents Jaylen Harrell and Eyabi Anoma to lead the most terrifying defense in the Big 10. The Michigan defensive line can put more pressure on a quarterback than a first Hinge date, and a Hawaii team that just got eviscerated by Vanderbilt and Western Kentucky will be in for a long day. What excites me most about this game is how Jim Harbaugh will deviate snaps under center. Because Hawaii, who lost nearly all of its tackling production and three impact starters from last year’s defensive line, has a defense that a pop-warner team could drop twenty-points on, I expect Cade McNamara to split time with playmaking phenom JJ McCarthy.

The question isn’t whether or not Michigan will beat Hawaii, but by how much? The talent separation between Michigan’s receiving corps, a group of guys so talented they could catch an STD from a Mormon, and Hawaii’s secondary that’s been patched together with duct tape is a big one. I think this game will be used as a confidence booster for the Wolverines, one where they really run up the scoreboard. Vegas likes Michigan -50.5, but I think they beat them by even more than that. Jim Harbaugh is not one to take his foot off the gas. Take Michigan to win, cover, and take your free $200 from DraftKings!
