NFL MNF Week 2 Preview: Bucs at Texans: An exciting Week 2 wraps up with a MNF double header, featuring the Bucs taking on the Texans and an inter-AFC West showdown when the Chargers go to Vegas. While the latter is interesting, we are much more intrigued by the higher quality of the Texans/Bucs game.
The Texans came into the season fully expecting to build on the success they’ve experienced ever since they drafted CJ Stroud second overall in the 2023. Despite the AFC south’s lackluster output over the last ten years, the Texans are closer to the Ravens-Chiefs-Bills level than they are the rest of their southern peers. But if Week 1’s ugly 14-9 loss to the Rams is any indication, this team could be in for a long season. The Texans hope to bounce back on Monday Night and get back on the path to winning their third straight division title.
The Bucs have already won three straight division titles, but they are still hungry for more. I joke with my friends that “if you ever get a Falcons/Bucs line where someone is +3.5, take it” since every time they play it seems to be a three point game. Week 1 was no exception, as the Bucs narrowly pulled out a late win over the Falcons. Their offense, led by Baker Mayfield, has the talent to be as potent as any in the league. It will be up to Vita Veta and their defense to see how far this team can go.
Vegas thinks this one will be a nail buster. Tampa Bay enters as just 2.5-point underdogs. DraftKings has set the total at 42.5, a lower than expected line considering the offensive potential in this game.
