Everybody and their mother will be focused on the Ohio State game Saturday, but this one could be just as important, if not more important. The Bo Nix era has begun in Oregon, and he has a lot of weapons at his disposal and a whole lot of experience playing against Georgia. Saturday will also be the first time that Oregon head coach Dan Lanning faces off against his old boss, Kirby Smart. The Dawgs are returning ten starters, with Oregon returning only seven. That being said, there are some big names on each team returning, including Stetson Bennett and Brock Bowers for Georgia and Daymond David and TJ Bass for the Ducks. I’m not surprised that Georgia is the third-best pre-season team in the country, but I am astonished about the spread of this game. Vegas likes Georgia by -17.5.
Oregon will have its most prolific offensive year since the Obama administration. Bo Nix only improved as his career on declining Auburn teams progressed. I know that Georgia has restocked, and they will once again have ridiculous guys lining up on both sides of the ball, but 17.5 points is crazy. Oregon has been bringing in great recruiting classes year after year. While they may have some question marks in their secondary, Bryan Addison and Trikweze Bridges are blue-chip talents that will show the young guys how things are done.
