We’re well underway with this college basketball season, and this week we get a great matchup between the best team in college basketball, the #1 Purdue Boilermakers, and the Michigan Wolverines. Let’s break it down so you can (responsibly) make the most out of this sweet offer from FanDuel.
Michigan has been a solid team. They’re 3rd in the Big Ten, 11-8 overall, but at home, they’re 8-2. They started off the season strong but have struggled recently, dropping three of their last five. Big Man Hunter Dickinson has been a beast, leading his team in points and rebounds per game with 18 and 9, respectively. Michigan is averaging slightly more points per game than Purdue but granted; they are less efficient. This game will be a battle for the Wolverines, but I’m not completely writing off this team.
Now Purdue is ranked #1 for a reason. They’ve only lost one game all year, and it was by one point to an upstart Rutgers squad. Despite not having the best all around team or putting up unreal numbers, Purdue just keeps on winning. Their offense is solid, and their defense is good, but it really seems like they’re playing at their highest potential, which is great to see. Zach Edey has been fantastic, averaging 21.5 ppg, which is 10th in the country, and 13.2 rebounds which is second in the country. The Boilermakers have relied on him heavily, and up until now, he’s been up to the task. If Purdue wants to keep winning, it will mostly fall on Edey. Michigan is a little banged up, so I think the Boilermakers should grab the win here, but it will be a close one.
