It’s week five of the NFL, and the red-hot Buffalo Bills led by Josh Allen are hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have recently named rookie first-round pick Kenny Pickett as their starter. Step aside, Trubiscuits. In his debut against the Jets last week, Pickett threw three interceptions, but don’t let that stat line fool you. Claypool and Freirmouth both should’ve caught the first two, and the last one was a Hail Mary to win the game. With his other 10 throws? 10 completions and 120 yards. The kid is legit. Unfortunately for “Yinzers,” though, the Bills are on a rampage so far this season. They’re 3-1, having only lost to the Dolphins in a tight week three game, and because they show no signs of slowing down, the Steelers are fourteen-point underdogs this week. As much as Kenny Pickett looks like he’s going to be a fire starter for the Steelers, any chance of them pulling off an upset on Sunday is looking pretty grim.
There’s no doubt in my mind that the Steelers can and will cover those fourteen points. With Pickett running the offense, they looked the best they have all year, and George Pickens showed that he’s by far the most talented receiver on that squad. Still, though, when you have an MVP caliber quarterback like Josh Allen throwing to an elite wide receiver like Stefon Diggs with a defense that’s top five in the NFL, this game is really an easy pick for sports bettors. I think we’ll definitely see some more greatness out of Pickett, and he’ll give us a game that’s going to be way more fun to watch than the pre-game lines are making it out to be.
