In week four of the NFL, we get a Thursday Night Football game between the 2-2 Broncos and the 1-2-1 Colts. It’s a battle between two struggling AFC teams led by veteran QBs in their debut seasons on new squads. Russell Wilson and the Broncos will be without Javonte Williams for the rest of the season after an ACL tear (prayers up) in last week’s loss against the Raiders, which means Melvin Gordon will step into RB1 territory. On the Colts side, they miraculously beat the Chiefs in week two, but Matt Ryan has struggled to carry the team and every fantasy football league’s first overall pick, Jonathan Taylor, hasn’t been the dominant force we were all expecting to see, and his ankle injury has taken him out of the lineup tonight. This is a big game for both squads, as a win on either side would be a huge stepping stone to turn two so-far-disappointing seasons around and in the right direction.
Russell Wilson has been the definition of mediocrity so far this year, unable to carry the Broncos like we saw him do time after time with the Seahawks in years past, but that doesn’t compare at all to the inefficiency Matt Ryan has been putting out on the field. With five interceptions through four games, Ryan’s been the biggest issue for his team, putting them in holes early in games that take away the opportunities they so desperately need to move the offense through the run game – Nyheim Hines this week. Despite losing Javonte Williams, I think the Broncos are still the better pick for this game. With Jeudy and Courtland Sutton threatening secondaries and Russell Wilson showing that he won’t dig his team in a hole with picks (he’s only got one so far this season), the three-point home favorites are the right call against a Colts team that’s proven they don’t have the fire needed to win games. It will no doubt be a close game, but one that the Broncos should win. Take the Broncos money-line and get your free $200 from DraftKings!
