The Cleveland Cavaliers are a much better team than the Trail Blazers this year. One team is struggling to stay at .500 right now, while the Cavs, I mean other team, are fourth in the East. Do not overthink this matchup; The Cavs will almost definitely win on Thursday.
The Portland Trail Blazers have been downright awful in this last stretch of games. Damian Lillard may never run from the grind, but it appears the rest of his team does. They have won two of their last nine matchups and do not look to be on any sort of upwards trajectory. That’s not to say that this team is awful. They have three legit shot-creating scoring threats in Anfernee Simons, Damian Lillard, and Jerami Grant. All three of those guys are scoring over twenty points per game. Plus, they have Josh Hart, who is one of the most underrated defensive players in the league, in my opinion, averaging 1.2 steals per game and always being a gnat. The issue with this team is that their chemistry has been off the whole season. I mean, how else does a team with this much talent look so bad at this point in the season?
The Cavaliers, on the other hand, have had unlimited chemistry this year. Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell are both hooper’s hoopers, and they’ve been showing that on the court. Both have been averaging over 20 points per game on some ridiculous efficiency stats, and the team has been rallying around that. Not to mention that both these guys must have dimer hall of fame on averaging over 4.5 assists per game, well over in the case of Garland. And then you add in Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen, who are elite defenders and solid paint threats on offense. It doesn’t even matter who the small forward of this team is; their starting lineup is gross.
