Game analysis:
These are two football teams looking for a foothold in the AFC. Both of these teams have had disappointing starts to the seasons, albeit for wildly different reasons, and only one can prevent their season from being even more disappointing. So far I’m more impressed with the Patriots team as a whole but my goodness did that Jets defense look real against Josh Allen and the Bills. And I know this take will be controversial but the Bills are a better football team than the Patriots. I really think either of these teams could pull the dub out on this one.
The New York Jets might have had the most disappointing start to a season I have ever seen. I can’t believe that Aaron Rodgers got injured, what, four plays into the season? I mean I have no lost love for the Jets but my goodness y’all Jets fans just can’t catch a break can you? I know that your last game against the Cowboys was disappointing, but your schedule was made with the idea that Rodgers would be playing those games, not Zach Wilson so you can’t be too upset. However, I don’t know why your defense went from being the best in the league to a not-as-good one. I mean the Bills have a way better offense than the Cowboys, no offense Cowboys fans. If you can force Josh Allen into three picks I was surprised that you couldn’t create any turnovers with the Cowboys. The Patriots though have the worst offense that you’ll have seen up to this point, so I expect some big things from that defense. (and let’s just ignore the quarterback situation).
The Patriots have had two strong losses. That is the biggest compliment I can give them at this point in the year. They held the Dolphins to much fewer points than they could have gotten and they outscored the Eagles in the last three quarters of their season-opener. If they can put together four complete quarters of football then I think this team also has a great shot at winning this thing. Now unfortunately, this will be the best defense that Mac has seen, but I think with Bill O’Brien in his ear to talk him through things, I believe he can have enough poise in the pocket to get the job done. And while on the topic of defenses, I am a huge fan of the Patriots one. They have some big guys up front, including but not limited to Matthew Judon, and Christian Gonzalez has looked like the first-round pick he was hyped up to be.
