The Cavs against the Nets. One team has been consistent all season, slowly building chemistry and growing their young talents. The other has gone through so many changes you’d think it’d be a college student’s hair after a breakup. I won’t lie to you guys I love Mikal Bridges, but there is no way he wins going about against three All-Stars and a future All-Star. The Cavs are winning this game.
The Nets are a solid team right now. They have been giving many teams all sorts of problems ever since the trade deadline. I mean sure they did lose two top-15 players in the middle of the season, and now have a roster full of role players. But those role-players are showing that maybe they are a lot better than people give them credit for. For instance, Mikal Bridges has been absolutely hooping since arriving in Brooklyn. He’s been averaging 26 points per game and making himself a very valuable trade target for teams this off-season. However, I can’t give them too much credit. They’ve been spiraling ever since the deadline, and I don’t think their current three-game losing streak is going to let up with this game against the Cavaliers. If anything it may just demoralize them further.
The Cavaliers are an elite basketball team. They have so much talent spread around their starting five that it’s pretty ridiculous. I mean three of their starting five players have been All-Stars already and their young power forward is not very far behind. I know everyone wants to talk about how great Donovan Mitchell has been for the team this year, and that’s all fine and well but I want to spotlight Darius Garland for once. The man has taken his job as a primary ball distributor in stride, dishing the ball out 7.8 times per game and seamlessly shifting into a secondary scoring role behind Donovan Mitchell. And even as the second scoring option on the team, the man is still averaging about 22 points per game. Still, an elite bucket-getter when he has to be.
