No. 3 seed Xavier and No. 11 seed Pittsburgh will be facing off in the second round after Pitt was able to pull off an upset against No. 6 seed Iowa State in the first round of the tournament. While Pitt struggles to put up points, it seems like Xavier is crafty enough to score against pretty much anyone. They may have let Kennesaw State hang around a little too long in round one, but Other than that they have taken care of business when they needed to this season. They made it to the Big East Championship and lost expectedly to Marquette, a current 2 seed in the tournament. The 7-foot graduate student, Jack Nunge, has been stepping up all season long, averaging 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Not to mention the incredible block he had last game to save his team in the clutch. Xavier would have probably lost the game if it wasn’t for this absolute baller. He is beyond reliable in every part of the game and I can’t imagine a situation where Pitt has an answer for him. There’re people who are going to argue that Xavier is a defensive liability, and they’re not wrong by any means. This is simply a game where you can get away with having mediocre defense. Pitt doesn’t put up a lot of points and they have no reliable shooters. I would ride Xavier money line all day long, but you best believe I’ll be tuning into this tomorrow at 12:10 EST.
