Neither of these teams made much noise at the deadline, the Braves traded for the corpse of Jake Odorizzi, and the Mets landed a bat with Daniel Vogelbach. I would say these two teams are neck and neck, but let’s be real, the Mets are two strides ahead of the Braves. New York came out of the All-Star game hotter than an old Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover, and they’ve been better at starting pitching than Demi Lovato is at making outrageous headlines. Both these teams are deep with great bullpens, but the Mets have the edge here. Game one will feature Carlos Carrasco pitching against Kyle Wright for Atlanta. After a brutal month stretch from mid-June to mid-July, Carrasco has been lights out in his last three outings, and I would expect more of the same here. He hasn’t allowed an earned run since July 9th, and he struck out seven batters his last time on the mound.
