Get ready for the opening night of the NBA Season. After a long offseason, the NBA is back and fans are excited to see their teams take the floor in what should be a long and exciting season. One of the key opening night matchups will be the Los Angeles Lakers vs the Minnesota Timberwolves in what should be a highly entertaining matchup between two Western Conference contenders.

The Minnesota Timberwolves were one of the most surprising teams last season. After having little success in the playoffs over the last 20 years, they made it to the Western Conference Finals in 2024. But despite making a deep playoff run last season, the Timberwolves still felt that a change was needed on their roster. Earlier this month they shook up the NBA landscape and traded their star big man Karl Anthony-Towns to the New York Knicks. But even after trading their star big man to the Knicks, Minnesota has still firmed up their roster with the addition of key role players Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo. Not to mention returning stars Rudy Gobert and Anthony Edwards.

The Los Angeles Lakers had another bitter ending to their 2024 season, once again being beaten handily by the Denver Nuggets. The Lakers have not had much playoff success since they captured the NBA title in 2020. They have yet to reach a conference finals since that year. But make no mistake, the Lakers are still a force to be reckoned with in the Western Conference. With LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the charge, they will always be a threat to win the NBA title.

So whether you are rooting for a clear favorite or hoping for a miracle by the underdog, the most important thing to remember is that you must be in it to win it.
