Get ready for the opening night of the NBA Season. After a long offseason, the NBA is back and fans are excited to their teams take the floor in what should be a long and exciting season. One of the key opening night matchups will be the New York Knicks vs. the Boston Celtics in what should be a highly entertaining matchup between two Eastern Conference heavyweights.
After the Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals in June, the team will receive their championship ring and raise that elusive 18 championship banner. But once the banner is raised it will be back to business, as every team will be gunning to dethrone them as NBA champions.
One of those teams will be the New York Knicks. The Knicks were a game away from meeting the Celtics in last year’s Eastern Conference Finals but were eliminated by the Indiana Pacers in the second round. This offseason they have firmed up their roster through blockbuster trades. They landed star forwards Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets and Karl-Anthony Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Celtics have not remained as active as the Knicks in the trade market. But they honestly have not needed to. They have retained all their key pieces from last year’s championship team. And the likes of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Derrick White have proven to be a handful. The NBA season is long, and it is still early, but either team could make a huge statement with a win on opening night.
So whether you are rooting for a clear favorite or hoping for a miracle by the underdog, the most important thing to remember is that you must be in it to win it.
