Get pumped football fans! The NFL is officially at the midway point as we have reached Week 9 of the NFL season. With the season preparing to enter crunch time every win and loss matters more with teams preparing to enter the playoff hunt. Week 9 will kick off with a Thursday Night Football showdown between the New York Jets and the Houston Texans.
Many people felt the New York Jets would be a legit Super Bowl contender this season with a healthy Aaron Rodgers. But despite having all the tools to succeed the Jets have been lackluster. It has been a rollercoaster season for New York. They fired their head coach Robert Saleh and made a trade to land star wide receiver Davante Adams, but the personnel changes have not led to a change in play on the field as they have now lost four consecutive games and have a record of 2-6 on the season.
During the offseason, the Texans put together a roster that was equipped to make a deep playoff run. After making it to the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs in 2023, the Texans added Stefon Diggs and Joe Mixon to an offense that was already star-studded. But injuries have derailed the Texans hopes at a potential title. Both Diggs and their other star wide receiver, Nico Collins have suffered season-ending injuries. But the Texans, despite all the turmoil that they have endured, sit atop the AFC South division with a record of 6-2. But with the roster as scarce as it is they cannot afford any more losses at this point of the season.
