What do I think about the Blue Jays this year?

Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but the Blue Jays have an exciting team that’s a dark horse for the World Series. The Jays lost Steven Matz, Marcus Semien, and Robbie Ray but went on to grab Matt Chapman, Jose Berrios (the second half of last year), and Kevin Gausman. So basically, a little bit more talent, a little less familiar faces. The three other COMPETITIVE (sorry O’s) AL East teams have their fans being abhorrent on Twitter. The Yankees signed the ghost of All-Star weekend’s past, the Red Sox got Trevor Story and the Rays… Ray’ed.

When analyzing the depths of all AL East rosters, I’m most optimistic about the Blue Jays. The front four in their rotation are stellar, they have the best infield in baseball debatably, and this lineup can do unspeakable things to the seams of a baseball. Here are the keys for their potential World Series season:

-Kevin Gausman needs to pitch like the Kevin Gausman of last year: through hard work and tweaking his mechanics, Kevin Gausman was able to throw one of the best splitters in the game last year. He needs to find eighty-five percent of the success he found with the Giants last season.

-Cavan Biggio needs to get back on track: Remember rookie Cavan Biggio? Me too. That whole best infield in the league thing really only works if Cavan can get on base and make contact reliably.

-Bullpen Health: Last year was basically Astroworld for the Blue Jays pitching staff. The Jays don’t really have many overpowering arms in the ‘Pen, but they have enough alright to ehh-pretty good arms to make this thing work.

I’m bullish on the Blue Jays, and as it stands right now, they are favored to win the AL East. If I were you, I’m putting a future on them before I feel like an idiot come October.
