NFL MNF Week 3 Preview: Lions at Ravens
Week 8 wraps up with an intriguing Monday Night game at Arrowhead when the Commanders come into town to take on the Chiefs.
There are few teams in the NFL right now more disappointing than the Washington Commanders. Last year, under new head coach Dan Quinn and rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, the Commanders took the league by storm. They snagged a wild card spot, upset the top-seeded Lions in the playoffs, and narrowly lost to the Eagles in their first NFC Championship appearance in nearly 20 years.
But life isn’t so sweet this season. The Commanders sit at 3–4 and are coming off an embarrassing 44–22 loss to the Cowboys. Injuries are partially to blame; Daniels has missed more than half the season, and it feels like every skill player on offense has sat out at least one game. Still, the issues in Washington run deeper than bad injury luck. If they can’t turn things around soon, the Commanders could be headed toward serious regression.
The Chiefs, meanwhile, are having the opposite kind of year. Many believed their crushing Super Bowl defeat against the Eagles marked the end of their dynasty, and those doubters seemed vindicated when Kansas City opened the season 0–2. But much like Tom Brady’s Patriots in the 2010s, the Chiefs tend to shrug off a slow September before dominating in October. Kansas City has now rattled off five straight wins and once again looks every bit like a Super Bowl contender.
It sets up a game that Vegas is calling a blowout as Washingotn enters as a massive +10.5 underdog with the Chiefs getting -700 on the ML. DraftKings has set the total at 48.5.
