After being a coveted member of the Big 12 conference, the Texas Longhorns finally made the jump to the SEC in 2024. And it was a dominant debut for Steve Sarkisian and company. They were 7-1 in conference play and had an overall record of 11-2. After falling to the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship Game, Texas redeemed themselves in the first round of the College Football Playoff. They beat the 16-ranked Clemson Tigers 38-24.
The Arizona State Sun Devils finished the regular season sitting on top of a pretty competitive Big 12 conference. They finished the year 7-2 in the conference with a record of 11-2 overall, including a Big 12 title win over the Arizona Wildcats in November. However, their strength of schedule leaves a lot to be desired. They played just two ranked teams this season but they did have a record of 2-0 in those games.
Oddsmakers aren’t giving the Sun Devils much of a chance in this one. The Longhorns enter this matchup as a heavy favorite. Texas is favored by 13.5 points over Arizona State. Oddsmakers have this one as a high-scoring affair with the over/under marked at 51.5 points.
So whether you are rooting for a clear favorite or hoping for a miracle by the underdog, the most important thing to remember is that you must be in it to win it.
