Week 5 is in the books — and what a week it was. It might be the first time in recent memory (maybe ever) that every single primetime game ended in an upset.
On Thursday, the 49ers stunned the Rams with Mac Jones under center. On Sunday night, Drake Maye led the Patriots to the most impressive win of his young career. Then on Monday, the Jaguars shocked the Chiefs — a statement victory that affirmed Jacksonville as a legitimate contender and raised real questions about Kansas City’s staying power.
Here are the matchups I’m keeping an eye on in Week 6:
Rams (-360) at Ravens (+7)
Cooper Rush will start again for Baltimore as Lamar Jackson misses his second straight week. No one expects the Ravens to win this one, but they need to show some fight. If they can’t go at least 1-1 over the next two games, the team might seriously consider sitting Jackson for the rest of the year and chalking up 2025 as a lost season.
Seahawks (-1.5) at Jaguars (-110 ML)
This matchup is the closest on paper and features two former college stars squaring off. Liam Cohen has the Jaguars off to their best start since 2017, when they reached the AFC Championship. Jacksonville fans are ready to believe again. Sam Darnold, meanwhile, is playing the best football of his career — easily top-10 QB form right now. Expect fireworks in what could turn into a shootout.
Lions (+2.5) at Chiefs (-425 ML)
Sunday night’s marquee game sees Detroit traveling to Kansas City. The Lions famously opened the 2023 season with a win at Arrowhead, signaling the start of their Super Bowl window. Two years later, they’ll look to prove that window is wide open — and maybe close Kansas City’s in the process.
