However, they have shown that they are not unbeatable. In the three games they’ve played the only good team they’ve beaten is Senegal, and even then it was two last-minute goals that secured them the win. Besides Senegal, they also beat Qatar, but I mean, who wasn’t going to beat Qatar, they were the worst team in this tournament. And the last time they played a team from the America’s, Ecuador, they ended up tying them. And they did not look good by any stretch of the imagination. Gakpo scored early, but from then on out they were on the back foot trying their best just not to lose the game after Enner Valencia put one through.

The United State’s on the other hand did not look like the worse side in a single match they’ve played so far. Tyler Adams is absolutely unstoppable in the midfield, he has been shutting down opposition attacks like a machine. Our defense hasn’t let up a single goal in open play this whole tournament, so Cody is really gonna have to be on his A game. And we found out yesterday that it doesn’t matter who we put in at center back, they’re all elite. Cameron Carter-Vickers touched the field for the first time in the tournament against Iran and the defense did not miss a beat. On the attacking side, well, Captain America is still Captain America. As long as he is in the opposing defense should be terrified. This US attack creates so many chances that if we just figure out a way to put every chance we generate on target, we’ll very quickly find ourselves scoring three or four goals a game. 

We all know what happened the last time the United States had a win-or-go-home mentality because we ain’t home right now. This US team doesn’t quit, is hungry, and is too young to know any better.
