Calm Down, Will Smith. Don’t Push Your Dad Down The Steps (Which He Said He Almost Did)

Will Smith almost killed his dad. That is a pretty compelling headline, too… but I wanted to use the meme version.

Anyways, if you clicked to see what the hell I was talking about, let me get straight to it. Will Smith wrote a memoir, Will (such a clever name), and in an interview with Entertainment Tonight said that he was ready to KILL HIS DAD.

“That when I was big enough, when I was strong enough, when I was no longer a coward, I would slay him. I paused at the top of the stairs. I could shove him down, and easily get away with it. I’m Will Smith. No one would ever believe I killed my father on purpose. I’m one of the best actors in the world. My 911 call would be Academy Award level. As the decades of pain, anger, and resentment coursed then receded, I shook my head and proceeded to wheel Daddio to the bathroom.”

Smith said that his father (who was an U.S. Air Force veteran) was sick at the time, and his cancer was getting worse. Smith added that he was struggling with mental health and that he considered killing his dad in order to avenge his mother.

The two separated when Smith was just 13, and finally divorced in 2000. His passed then passed way in 2016, without being thrown down the steps.
