Travis Scott and his team have been informed that the 30-year-old rapper will not be invited to perform at Coachella this year. The removal is a direct result of the events at Astroworld, which has left 10 people dead and others still in recovery.

According to a report from KESQ, which cited the city of Indio and the Community Services Manager Jim Curtis, Scott was removed from the lineup.

Scott was first announced to be the Coachella headliner almost two full years ago, in January of 2020, along with Frank Ocean and Rage Against the Machine. After the festival was postponed multiple times due to The Rona, RATM and Scott had remained on its most recent lineup, while Ocean moved his appearance to 2023.

Those plans obviously changed after Astroworld.

Coachella is (currently) scheduled to take place on April 15-17 and April 22-24 at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, Calif., and its sister, country-themed, Stagecoach scheduled to take place on the following weekend.

No word yet as to who will fill the slot left by Scott.

There was a Change.org petition to have him taken off the bill, which had over 60,000 signatures:

‘With the recent tragic and unnecessary death at Travis Scott’s Astroworld concert, due to Scott’s own gross negligence and sheer lack of compassion for human life, we ask AEG, Paul Tollet, and Goldenvoice to remove his as performer at all of their festivals.’

A report in Variety said that the festival informed Scott’s longtime agent, Cara Lewis, of its intent to pull Scott from the event and that it would pay a “kill fee” for the cancelation, which is usually 25% of the contracted rate.
