In the case of virtual street racing, the "NFS Underground" series looked like a formidable monopolist. But now, new "Street Racing Syndicate" and "Juiced" have encroached on the laurels of these auto races. As in the case of SRS, it's safe to say that if "Juiced" had been released before everyone else, it would have been more popular than everyone else. However, even with the current state of affairs, the game looks like a very interesting alternative for NFSU.
Firstly, the single player game offers us two modes: Career and Arcade. While the first option is exactly what you thought about... The arcade divides us into a series of 5 competitions, among which there may be drag racing, ring racing, from point to point and show-off (in NFSU we scored points for a similar Drift mode). Moreover, the series are not compiled at random, but for ideological reasons like the American muscle series or the Japanese super car series. An excellent thing for those who want to practice before playing online or career.
Secondly, the multiplayer game follows the same principle as a career, only it is much more interesting to compete with live rivals (because, unlike computer intelligence, they can pose a real danger to your wallet and rating). A career in "Juiced" is a choice of competitions according to the calendar. The promising direction of walking around the city was abandoned here, which may have been reflected in the best possible way: attention was given to other things.
All cars and competitions in the game are divided into power classes. It is worth installing a couple of upgrades, and your car will move to the best class, but will not be able to participate in the old one. What is not the motivation for compiling your collection of cars of different classes? At the beginning of your career, however, you will have to manually rearrange the power through the garage mode to save money (there is a car repair and installation of upgrades, visual tuning).
"Juiced" provides a large space for action: you can hunt for prototype upgrades, recruit and train your team of drivers, raise the rating, earn money. Rating is your main goal, just as it was in SRS. Here, however, the rating is set by different participants with different tastes: someone will appreciate the collection of cars, someone will be able to win races, and someone will put points for the tricks performed in the show-off. This mode differs in a favorable way: 180 and 360 degree turns appeared, J-turn and Bootleg turns (it was possible to check this out in the "Double Afterburner"), burning tires – Donut. Not a single slip!
Of course, "Juiced" was not without its drawbacks. A good realization of the difference between front-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive cars turned into terrible driving problems on the keyboard (try the Nissan 350Z). Yes, cars drive really differently, and are needed for different purposes! However, it turns out to be much easier to control on the joystick than to suffer with the keyboard. A cool soundtrack of electronic music and a large selection of cars are undoubted advantages, as well as the mandatory observation of your team members is a serious minus. It would be better if the observation was optional...
As a result, we come to the same thing: another game about street racing is only a plus. NFSU 2, SRS, Juiced have their drawbacks and advantages. There is no clear favorite in sight and this pleases...
P.S. The graphics are good, especially the shine on the asphalt and the drawing of cars are pleasing (by the way, visual upgrades differ for different models). The only thing, as usual: the environment around is pleasant only at speed, if you look closely, you can see the meager situation and cardboard people-extras.
