A wind of change is blowing on the gambling industry in the land of the Rising Sun. The Law on Promotion and Development of Specified Integrated Resort Areas (also known as the "IR Promotion Law") was approved and spread in the country in December 2016 to regulate the opening and activity of new gambling-based resorts. In particular, the IR Promotion Law implies that the Japanese government can take measures to fight against the gambling problem.

Impact Of The New Integrated Resorts In Osaka And Nagasaki

The statements in this law changed the previous Japanese gambling environment by creating safer and better-controlled casino resorts for locals and foreign tourists. Recently, the news of the opening of new casinos in Osaka and Nagasaki raised a fuss of rumors about the professional training necessary for casino positions like dealers. The economic impact of the coming-soon IR in Osaka is expected to boom the employment market: the new casino will need at least 2,000 dealers. Thus, the need for human resources to develop the new casino's team is more than urgent. In addition to the need for dealers, the new structure will need a complete pool of specific professionals in several fields. However, the hunt for dealers seems to be the most challenging for the casino school.

A Casino Dealer Training Program To Develop Human Resources

The new IR in Osaka has specific casino dealer training to form and develop the needed dealers to employ in the new resort. However, it's hard to find enough students after the corona disaster in the country. The casino responsible for MGM - a core shareholder of Osaka IR Co. Ltd - has been conducting casino dealer training programs since 2020 and holding an online workshop for 50 students from six Japanese universities. The dealer training program has the purpose to teach students IR business management to develop a leaderboard in this field.

Bilingual Casino Dealers PreferredJapanese casino dealer

At present time, MGM is resuming an on-site training program in Las Vegas, as the company previously did. The overseas training program represents a golden opportunity for young students who speak English and lice in Japan to find an ongoing job in one of the new casino-integrated resorts.

The new IRs will serve local customers as well as several foreign tourists who visit the Rising Land. Thus, the new casino resorts will need bilingual foreign and japanese casino dealers. Language skills are among the most important aspects the recruitment board will consider when checking the applications for the required professional figures. The applicants who want to work in an IR don't need any specific education or licenses, except for a private qualification proving the knowledge as a casino dealer and language skills.

As far as the present day, the Japan Casino School in Osaka and Tokyo will give about 1,000 just-graduated young resources to the gambling employment system by the end of this year. Also, about 20% of the graduates from the Japan Casino School have already found a job in overseas IRs.

Overview Of The Needed Human Resources

The new IR will need bilingual casino dealers on top of other necessary personnel, including all the hotel staff figures, hospitality, customer service roles, front desk employees, concierges, waitstaff and chefs for the restaurant, hotel maids, busboys, security guards, maintenance staff, and administrative employees. The job offerings are various: there's something for everyone, especially in the casino environment where dealers and other floor staff are fundamental pillars for the IR.

More significant roles to cover in the new IR include several entertainment positions, such as performers for the various shows and events, coordinators, make-up artists, show directors, sound technicians, and staff members for the casino's public relations.

Conclusion

Before the opening of the first IR, Texas Hold'em Poker was nearly the only casino game that Japanese gamblers used to play. Nowadays, things are changed (and are still) a lot from the establishment and increase of new casinos in Osaka and Tokyo - 57 casino bars as of July 2022. Some shops offer monthly tournaments for everyone, but the winnings consist of chips for purchasing items in the store. With the advent of western-styled casino resorts, gamblers will be able to collect prize money and enjoy an authentic casino experience like in Las Vegas.
