Are you trying to find out which dating apps work for the trans community and which don't? Transgender males and females are moving away from the popular online dating apps and onto specific transgender dating sites to help have a more welcoming environment to enjoy respectful interactions with other trans individuals.

Of course, not all queer daters are transgender men and women and many of the secure environments we're promoting are actually welcoming spaces for non binary people, queer people, gender fluid folks, and queer women. Basically, anybody except cisgender men and women!

Let's make transgender dating easy as we uncover the best dating site for transgender members of the LGBTQ community!

Online Dating with More Than Two Gender Options

The dating world shouldn't be as behind as it is, especially with dating apps. Transgender dating apps are fairly new to the party, so many trans women and men have avoided meeting people online, as a trans dating experience isn't always enjoyable.

When your gender identity doesn't match your biological sex or your sexual orientation is anything but straight, even the best dating apps used to feel limiting. We've tried to find other transgender dating sites that offer multiple gender identities, tags, labels, and ways to self describe so you can openly be a part of the transgender community without any awkward conversations.

The mainstream dating apps are slowly catching up, with a few trans people even managing to find meaningful connections and serious relationships on some of the big names, but for the majority of trans singles, it's a much better dating experience when you try the other apps.

Gay Men, Lesbian Women, and Different Gender Identities on Other Dating Sites

Now, not only transgender experiences are being taken into account as dating apps try to create space for anyone from bisexual men to trans daters and other sexual preferences. For example, safety measures are being put in place to create a safe space, as trans oriented men and non binary people have faced a lot of uneasy encounters on non trans dating sites.

Transgender women are partnering with most dating apps, looking to make a change, with safety teams being installed to help your next match feel a lot more secure.

You'll also notice that profile verification processes are becoming more and more common as a way to pre-screen potential matches to make sure they are their true self.

The verification process is as simple as a selfie holding ID, but it can save people, especially trans folks, from meeting potential partners who are not all they appear to be.

In all honesty, though, if you're a trans person, gender fluid, or anyone who is not cisgender, it is well worth exploring gay and trans dating apps. The LGBTQ and trans community give you more gender options, lets you explore your sexual orientation, meet people with the same interests as you, and explore meaningful connections in a truly safe space.

The best way to safely meet like minded people for a serious relationship is through a specialist trans dating app.

The Best Trans Dating Apps and Dating Websites to Date Safely

All of these apps welcome trans girls and trans men, but not all of them were set up with the trans community in mind. We are looking for the best trans dating app, which means trans people can find a long term relationship as easily as a straight person on something like Bumble.

With that in mind, let's find the best apps for transgender users to find love on!

1. Taimi

Transgender women and trans men listen up. Taimi is the only app you need to meet any other transgender folks or other members of the LGBTQ+ community. Whilst you don't need to be a trans person to join, Taimi welcomes anyone and is very vigilant in keeping out anyone who might cause trouble.

It's totally free to join and start swiping, so it's well worth having a little peek at what's out there. But wait, there's more! Taimi isn't just a dating site. Trans users can set up events, group chats, make new friends, and even help out with local causes, which is a quality not many transgender dating platforms offer.

We love that trans users can basically use Taimi as a one-stop shop for dating, meeting other transgender people, and even getting advice from new friends. If you're a transgender person who is new to the community or wants a shoulder to cry on, you're sure to find people to listen here. It's a really lovely corner of the web where you're totally free to be yourself amongst others who are non-judgmental and welcoming, always.

2. Bindr

First of all, can we just agree that dating sites, even trans dating sites, need to move away from the Tinder adjacent names? It's a little clever at least with Bindr, but still, let's branch out in future!

Now Bindr is super welcoming of anyone wanting to try trans dating and has a brilliantly simple user interface, so it's pretty much just download and go. Transgender people across the world have praised how inclusive the app is, as it's yet another dating app made for trans people.

However, the reviews are mixed. We've got a few trans women praising the app, but the odd trans woman says the messages won't load. One trans man said he forgot his password, and the reset link never worked.

On the other hand, it's free, easy to use, and pretty light on the ads, which is unusual in a dating platform these days. Trans people, if Taimi isn't working for you, definitely give Bindr a go.

3. Translr

Again with the name? Translr, though, is yet another app made just for trans people, which is pretty cool to have at least three LGBTQ+ options on the list already. I've heard a lot of good things from transgender people about Translr, as it's pretty relaxed with the explaining side of things.

Trans people are encouraged to just exist. And honestly, it's pretty refreshing. And trans women and men who have had bad experiences online dating, don't fear, Translr has a really rigorous vetting process to keep trans women and men safe while swiping. No chance of any catfish or nutcases here!

4. OkCupid

OkCupid wasn't originally built with trans people in mind, but honestly, huge respect for the team for making the site more inclusive. Way back in 2014, the site was one of the first to open its doors to transgender people and has since expanded to include well over 50 identities, which is so great to see. We really wish that more platforms would take note and improve their systems to follow.

The big thing with OkCupid is that not everyone sees it as fresh and cool as some of the newer apps on the list, but it's still pretty solid and well worth a go, especially for those of us over 30.

5. Fiorry

Fiorry is another app designed for the trans community, and it's also more of a social media like Taimi. Definitely a winner on paper, with a fairly decent user base and some sweet features like the development team always aiming to make it safer and faster; however, I have found a few negatives that made me question the app's integrity.

One common complaint was the bugs. Glitches and mishaps seem to have the app crashing out, showing mismatched profile info and just generally not working as it's intended to. Some people have said the app constantly logs them out when they're simply trying to message someone back, and others have stated it has asked for payment info to access things that should be free.

All in all, Fiorry might work for you, but honestly, I'd go with the apps that rank higher on this list first!

6. TransPal

TransPal has similar problems going on as Fiorry... Let me explain. First of all, it's another idea that looks really great on paper. A judgment-free space for anyone who identifies as trans to meet and mingle.

The app screenshots on the App Store look super swish and easy to use, and it boasts a global user interface, which is always fun, especially if you travel.

However, things start to unravel when you actually download and try to use the app. How do you message people back? This is a genuine issue that some people have faced, and it seems to appear with no rhyme or reason. Even if you're not one of the people affected, who's to say that the person you want to message can even reply? Overall, very odd!
