Southern Connecticut State’s gymnast Sydney Smith has burst onto the scene via her now-viral TikTok account. With over 2.2 million followers on the app, you can see her trajectory is trending upwards.
It seems like college gymnasts and TikTok fame go hand in hand, that makes sense for someone like Livvy Dunne. Livvy is by far the most popular out of all of the college athlete influencers, but a girl like Sydney can still make the most out of her NIL money.
Her Instagram also features her gymnastic skills and gets a little more personal.
Sydney Smith has plenty of time to make TikToks given that she cracked the lineup exactly once last season at a D-II program with a losing record and scored a 9.0. Livvy Dunne at least has the advantage of being a good gymnast (career highs of 9.9 or better in two events) at one of the best college programs in the country. NIL clearly has nothing to do with ability, especially for female athletes. But hey, if Smith can find a way to make money for being hot(-ish) like most other “influencers” out there, more power to her.
