One of the most famous and arguably one of the greatest soccer players of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo along with his girlfriend, Georgina Rodriguez announced yesterday that his infant son has passed away:
Ronaldo is also a father to Cristiano Jr. (11), twins Eva Maria and Mateo (4), and Alana Martina (4). Ronaldo had announced in October that he and Georgina were expecting twins, and in December announced that it would be a boy and a girl.
The family has requested privacy, and Ronaldo was not in the Manchester United lineup in today’s match against Liverpool. There has been an outpour of support from the entire Premier League and soccer community as a whole.
“Your pain is our pain. Sending love and strength to you and the family at this time,” wrote Manchester United, Ronaldo’s current club and also the club he played for from the years of 2003-2009 before rejoining in 2021.
Pelé, another of the all-time greats echoed his own support in this statement: “My friend, I send you my prayers and my feelings at this very difficult time. May God comfort your hearts and enlighten every step of the way.”
