As if a career playing football wasn’t enough long-term physical damage, two former NFL running backs seem set to face-off in the boxing ring later this summer. Le’Veon Bell has been known to be taking part in Youtuber Austin McBroom’s “Social Gloves” exhibition boxing card, but didn’t have an opponent until now.

However, it appears that he will be facing off against former NFL MVP Adrian Peterson on July 30 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. According to TMZ, the two former ball carriers are in serious talks to fight next month, yet no official opponent to Bell has been named.

Bell and Peterson wouldn’t be the only athletes on the card as former NBA player Nick “Swaggy P” Young is scheduled to fight Blueface.

It’s unclear if the former NFL stars who share a combined 10 Pro Bowls are fighting for the easy cash or just as an attempt to stay relevant, but it’s definitely not because they want to launch a boxing career. Considering Peterson has made $103 million in career earnings while Bell earned about $45 million, it’s safe to say that an extra couple million isn’t the only driving force.

Regardless, while this may put them back in the spotlight for a night, the odds this puts either back on the map are extremely slim.
