Have you ever wondered what type of weed your favorite athletes and rappers smoke? Well, now is your chance to find out.
Chris Webber has officially rolled out his new luxury cannabis company Players Only. The Hall of Famer unveiled the company on Thursday, announcing several strains and partnerships with famous musicians and athletes.
With Thursday’s official release, Webber revealed three of Players Only’s in-house strains C4, Time Out (this one probably traumatizes Webber), and G.O.A.T.’s Milk. However, along with their own strains, Players Only is cooperating with several additional weed companies owned by other pop-culture icons to sell a diverse selection of cannabis.
Players Only also carries Quavo’s strain BIRKINZ, as well as multiple strains from rappers Raekwon and Royce 5’9’s own cannabis shops. Raekwon, a legendary member of the Wu-Tang Clan, owns a marijuana brand called Compliments to the Chef, which actually incentivizes people to grow weed in their home state. Royce 5’9 also owns his own company Heaven which doubles as an NFT.
Webber is also working with former NBA players such as Matt Barnes who works as the Players Only Chief Collaborations Officer. Of course, as head of collabs Barnes got his own strain on the shelf which he has simply dubbed The Smoke. Webber and Barnes have also united with the streetball king Jason Williams and former Fab 5 member Ray Jackson. Obviously, Williams named his strain White Chocolate as an ode to himself, while Jackson reps his strain Black Sox.
Players Only is first launching in Webber’s hometown of Detroit and will be sold exclusively at Gage and Berner’s Cookies dispensaries. Aside from straight flour, Players Only will also sell all-natural cannabis oil cartridges, pre-rolls, vapes, and even sport recovery and performance products.
It seems this is just the beginning of Players Only and more collabs with star athletes and rappers may be in the future. Personally, I’d love to see partnerships with Josh Gordon and Brittney Griner.
