Megan Markle is easily among the least liked celebrities going.
Honestly, being entitled and standoffish just isn’t a good look for people… and now, two years after she and her husband Prince Harry stepped down from their role as official, working members of the British royal family, she is losing another patronage from her list of fake duties that were just too much for her to bear.
The Duchess of Sussex — is that what we still call her (?) since we won the Revolutionary War I stopped paying attention to British lineage — is out from her role as the official patron of the National Theatre.
Markle was an actress. There couldn’t have been an easier lay-up position for her than Patron of the National Theatre. It is like interning at your dad’s law office.
According to PEOPLE, Camilla Parker-Bowles, The Duchess of Cornwall, will be taking over that patronage.
PEOPLE reported, after the official Twitter account for the National Theatre released a statement, about the duchess’ new move.
The National Theatre stated, “We are delighted to announce that Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall has become our Royal Patron. The Duchess, a long-standing supporter for the arts, is a devoted fan of theatre and champion of literature and drama.”
The Queen originally granted this patronage to the Markle in January 2019; it was one of four that she was given at the time.
In addition to the National Theatre, Markle previously served as a patron for Smart Works, The Mayhew, and the Association of Commonwealth Universities. Markle is still currently listed as a patron for Mayhew on the organization’s website and it’s unclear how the royal family will handle the repositioning of her other fake jobs.
Markle, for her part, likely is not worried. She did get paid $25M by Spotify to do a podcast… of which she produced one episode. Not a bad gig if you can get it.
