Gaspard Ulliel, a French actor set to star in Moon Knight, passed away on Wednesday after a skiing accident in the Alps, according to a report in Variety.

Ulliel was just 37 years old.

The accident occurred while skiing in the Savoie region of the French Alps on Tuesday. The actor reportedly collided with another skier at an crossing between two slopes, where he suffered serious brain trauma.

Ulliel was air-lifted from the mountain and taken to a hospital in Grenoble where he succumbed to his injuries and passed away.

Regarded a one of the most famous and acclaimed actors of his generation, Ulliel was excited to expand on impressive international resume with his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Ulliel will be the Midnight Man in Moon Knight – which is a rather deep cut, and an old villain in the story’s canon. His origin story starts as a professional art thief with a theatrical flourish which later evolves into a personal vendetta against Moon Knight.

Ulliel is survived by his 6-year-old son Orso and his girlfriend Gaelle Petri.

According to Ulliel’s IMDb page, he has two other posthumous projects set to release, a movie called More Than Ever as well as another project called La Bête with no release date just yet.

He was made famous by playing French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent in director Bertrand Bonello’s biopic and cemented his status within the country playing in It’s Only the End of The World, A Very Long Engagement and La Princesse de Montpensier.
