Well, it was fun while it lasted boys… just one week after Brandon Brown and his raceteam announced that it would be sponsored by LLGBcoin.io — a crypto company — the NASCAR governing body said to GTFO with that.
NASCAR has not said anything official, yet, but the Brandonbilt Motorsports team did. And it appears to be pissed with the decision, releasing a lengthy statement on Wednesday.
“NASCAR did not speak with Brandonbilt Motorsports prior to making their decision to rescind the approval and multiple attempts to set-up a conversation to address this matter went unacknowledged,” the release said.
“We are disappointed that NASCAR leadership has chosen to rescind approval of this sponsorship and feel they should have the confidence to own their decision to backtrack and not gaslight a team or a driver.”
LGBcoin.io, with those first three letters, will be sprayed all over on Brown’s car. The company was coined LGB as a direct reference to the phrase, “Let’s Go Brandon.”
When Brown won at the Talladega Superspeedway on Oct. 2, the ‘LGB’ movement started as NBC sports reporter told him the crowd was chanting “Let’s Go, Brandon” when they were so clearly yelling “Fvck Joe Biden.”
Brown had previously told reporters that he is a Republican, but said that he did not to be involved in politics publicly, “I have no interest in leading some political fight. I race cars. I am not going to endorse anyone, and I am certainly not going to tell anyone how to vote.”
On the flipside, NASCAR said a long time ago that it would not allow any “Let’s Go Brandon” related sponsorships after the incident sparked the firestorm.
