Yes, The Walking Dead is still slodging forward… like one of its walkers… to a kinda-sorta finale. The last season of the original program is being taped right now, but do not fret there are like 24,987 spinoffs planned.
Reedus updated fans of the franchise on social media about his head injury.
“Thank u for the nice thoughts it’s been a week. or two,” he posted. “I was in an accident. but getting better getting cleared and gonna be back at work Tuesday they tell me And sorry bout Atlanta event I was looking forward to it. Most of all thank you for the eye in the dark messages I really loved that little cat.”
Reedus had suffered his injury on March 11 in Georgia and although details of what led up to the incident remain unclear, Reedus’ spokesperson confirmed to Deadline, “Norman suffered a concussion on set. He is recovering well and will return to work soon. Thank you to everyone for their concern.”
It was not clear if Reedus was filming a scene at the time of the accident or not. Also, due to his injury, Reedus was forced to cancel an appearance at Fandemic Tour.
The event’s organizers said they were “sending all of our thoughts and positive energy to Norman Reedus. Everyone in our amazing community knows how much he loves his fans, and he wants you to know how terrible he feels about the situation. However, we all want him to do what is best for his health.”
In his health update Reedus apologized for missing the event, which he said he was “looking forward to.”
As for the show and its spinoffs, Reedus is set to star alongside co-star Melissa McBride in a Daryl and Carol show. That spinoff is just one of several confirmed to be in the works, with the anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead and the Maggie and Negan-centered spinoff Isle of the Dead, having also been confirmed. Those shows will join existing spinoffs Fear The Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond.
