On May 12 Montrezl Harrell, forward for the Charlotte Hornets, was pulled over by a state trooper in Kentucky. He admitted to having some weed in the car, and upon a search, the officer found three pounds in the backseat.
That’s a lot of pot, man.
That amount of weed is a class D felony in the state of Kentucky for first offenders. Fines are between one and ten thousand dollars and a possible prison sentence of 1-5 years.
No one has really commented on the situation, and it’s not clear what Harrell was doing with that much weed, or why he was even in Kentucky in the first place.
He is set to be a free agent, and this arrest and possible punishment could definitely have an impact on what happened to him in the offseason. The dude has been a solid role player and I would hate to see his career derailed because he had too much of a plant in his backseat.
To be fair it was a ridiculous amount of weed and he could absolutely be hit with intent to distribute.
