Urban Meyer said all the right things this morning. He probably did not mean any of them.

“I just apologized to the team and the staff for being a distraction,” Meyer said. “Just stupid.

“I explained everything that happened and owned it. Just stupid, shouldn’t have myself in that kind of position.”

For basic checking the boxes of journalism — because I am clearly a journalist — Meyer is in trouble (mostly with his wife) for his weekend antics and letting a blonde grind on him in public.

Let’s go to the tape:

So, this is not a good look for Meyer. In many respects… mostly that he is married.
Here is the rest of his non-pology.

He started by explaining that he stayed in Ohio and didn’t travel back with the team because he “stayed to see the grandkids and we all went to dinner that night,” and that there was a big group next to theirs.

“They wanted me to come over and take pictures, and I did,” Meyer said. “They’re trying to pull me out on the dance floor, screwing around, I should have left.”

Meyer added the players were receptive to his apology — some probably thought he was killing it, if we are being honest. He also said that he talked one-on-one with the Jaguars’ leaders as well as the whole team.

“They were good. They were focused on Tennessee,” Meyer said, referring to the team’s next opponent. “I apologized again for being a distraction. A coach should not be a distraction.”

He was also asked if he apologized to his family.

“Of course I did,” Meyer said. “That’s not me. Oh yeah, they were upset.”

Meyer is 57… and now I don’t know many people that are 57, but I do know plenty that are younger and way less successful and many of them would love to have a 25(ish), blonde grind on them while they are at the bar.

Meyer isn’t sorry for what happened. He is sorry there is video of it.
