Charles Barkley, one of the all time greats. Your parents generation and real basketball fans know him as one of the most dominant big man in the league, but these young kids know him from Inside the NBA with Shaq, Kenny the Jet, and Ernie. His antics and funny takes help make TNT’s NBA broadcasts some of the best sports talk.
Recently there have been talks about Chuck joining the broadcast team for the new LIV Saudi backed golf tour. He put those rumors to bed today, after his offer to the Saudis expired.
He had previously said if they offered him a $60 million contract by the end of his round of golf yesterday, he would accept. He didn’t get the offer and now says the door is closed and he will be sticking with Turner for the rest of his television career.
Barkley thanked the LIV tour for their interest in him, but took a moment to appreciate everything Turner had done for him, and how great they are to work with. He was quoted saying, “Turner and basketball have given me every single thing in my life… it is best for me to move on and I’m staying with Turner for the rest of my TV career”.
Thank goodness! It would have been a big loss for the TNT crew, and Inside the NBA would never be the same.
