Indiana Cheerleader Strikes While Iron Is Hot, Lands NIL Deal After Viral Moment

Cassidy Cerny, the Indiana cheerleader that we covered four days ago after saving a trapped basketball during The Big Dance, has locked in a Name, Image, Likeness deal after the viral moment took the internet over.

The moment will now live on longer than the Hoosiers tournament life.

She went on The Today Show and summarized her whirlwind 15 minutes of fame: “(It’s) very overwhelming. It’s been very cool and very interesting to see how many people have seen the video and are reaching out. It’s just been really cool.”

The cheerleader — with a big lift from teammate Nathan Paris — became the March Madness Hero that we did not know we would get. As the legend will be retold: With less than two minutes gone in the second half of Indiana’s loss to St. Mary’s, an errant ball became wedged between the backboard and the shot clock — let’s be honest, it was the closest an Indiana shot came to the rim for long stretches — but that is when Cerny and Paris came to the rescue.

She now stands to profit from her memorable March Madness moment, in large part to a t-shirt created and sold by BreakingT, a clothing company that describes itself as the “worldwide leader in real-time sports apparel.”

Somewhat timely, BreakingT debuted the shirt on Monday.

The T features the cheerleader grabbing a basketball from atop a backboard and the phrase “THE CHEERLEADER SAVES THE DAY” scrolled across the front.

If you are among those that love to be in the moment, then you can own a “Cassidy Cerny: The Cheerleader Saves The Day” for the feels-a-little-high price of $30 for an adult tee, $26 for a youth tee and $55 for a hoodie.

Details have not been provided as to how much Cerny will profit from the apparel, though the site does specifically note that the shirts are officially licensed by Indiana’s most recognizable cheerleader.
